Nile Youth Kagoma Coffee farmers Cooperative

With over 78% of the population in Uganda being under the age of 30, it is essential to invest in equipping the country’s youth. Agriculture serves as the backbone of Uganda’s economy, employing 70% of the population. Coffee, in particular, holds strategic importance as it provides income to subsistence farmers. However, a staggering 85% of Ugandan coffee is produced by smallholder farmers who employ rudimentary practices and achieve limited productivity.

This is precisely why Nileberg Cafe has taken the initiative to contribute to the economic transformation of the region by integrating the youth into the agricultural value chains. Nileberg Cafe has established the Nile Youth Kagoma Coffee Farmers Cooperative, bringing together over 6000 farmers. The primary objective of this cooperative is to enhance the capacity of these farmers, empowering them to improve their production capabilities, knowledge, income, and overall living conditions.
